Our Community

Warsaw, New York is a serene village community located in the Greater Niagara Region of New York State. The village is located inside the borders of the Town of Warsaw. In addition, the Warsaw community is home to East Warsaw, Martinsville, Newburg, Oatka, Perry, Pierce Corners, South Warsaw and Thompson’s Crossing.

The Village of Warsaw, incorporated in 1843, is now the County Seat of Wyoming County. As of the 2000 Census, the village was reported to have a population of 3,814 and 5,423 people are residing in the town. Modern residents believe that both village and town are named after Warsaw in Poland.

Its participation in the Civil Rights Movement clearly had a major part in shaping this historical community. The residents of Warsaw were supporters of the Underground Railroad and were instrumental in organizing the Warsaw Antislavery Society in 1833.  Walking tours through the area highlight the quaint Victorian architecture that was prevalent in the village from 1839 to 1920. There are also tours displaying suffragist and abolitionist sites such as the Civil War Monument, that cover over two hundred years of Warsaw’s history.

A smorgasbord of recreational opportunities lie within a thirty-minute drive of this rustic community. Six Flags on Darian Lake in Buffalo is one. It features a water park and over one hundred rides and other attractions. Some of New York’s most magnificent scenery is located in Letchworth State Park which is home of the Genesse Gorge, sometimes called the “Grand Canyon of the East. “ Other areas of interest are the Beaver Meadow Nature Center and the Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford. Niagara Falls, with its stunning gorges and waterfalls, is merely an hour’s drive to the west.

The Warsaw Box Company came into existence near the turn of the century. Now called the Fairview Paper Box Corporation, it is still in operation in Warsaw. Local agriculture and dairy farming are both major contributors to the current economy. Wyoming County‘s primary export is maple syrup. The Wyoming County Industrial Development Agency has an incentive plan in place to enhance the success of the existing employment base as well as attract and support prospective new businesses to this thriving area.

Warsaw, New York is a dynamic rural community with a strong economic base. Residents here enjoy the small town charm, yet are in the position to take advantage of the amenities of nearby cities such as Rochester and Buffalo
