Batavia,
New
York is centrally located within scenic Genesee
County, with access to all of the exciting
destinations in the region. Batavia, known
affectionately as the "Birthplace of Western
NY", serves as the center of commerce and the
seat of Genesee County.

1802, much of Western
NY consisted of the town of Batavia and Genesee
County, which was one entity at the time. Over the
years, new counties and towns formed and broke away
from Batavia and Genesee County. Today, Batavia is a
lovely town comprised of the communities of Bushville,
the City
of Batavia, Daws Corners, East
Pembroke, Five Corners, also known as
"Newkirk" and West Batavia. Each Batavian
town has its own distinct features that set them apart
from one another; however, Batavia ultimately works
together as one large community. According to the 2000
Census, Batavia reported a population of nearly
6,000 in the town and over 16,000 within the city.

opportunities of Buffalo
and Rochester.

Batavia
has a number of excellent choices for public and
private schools at the primary and secondary levels. Genesee
Community College is a two-year institution that
serves the higher education needs of Batavian
residents. The prestigious Empire
State College also operates an education facility
in Batavia. Several additional two and four year
colleges are within an hour's drive of Batavia.
Batavia
is home to five lovely parks, several golf
courses and an excellent facility for baseball,
where the community cheers on the Batavia
Muckdogs. Batavia is also home to the Holland
Land Office Museum, which features exhibits that
explain and honor the origins of Genesee County. The Genesee
Country Village and Museum and the exciting Six
Flags Darien Lake are less than half an hour away.
Renowned vacation destinations such as the Finger
Lakes, Niagara
Falls, Lake
Ontario and Letchworth
State Park are also within a short drive of
Batavia.
